Invert the selection

(still on layer1)

Cut away the excess.



Merge Visible layers

Open a new image 500x500.
(Lot's of room to work)
Fill and texturize with the color of your choice.

Open the Hook.
Note the header-bar is blue, active.
Drag the hook layer to the 500x500 image.

Drag the Oval shape to the 500x500 image.
Opps! Way too big!

Delete that layer from the 500x500 image.
Resize the oval. (Shift S) I resized at 60%.

Drag the newly resized oval to the 500x500 image.

Position in place.

X out the background layer.
Merge the other layers.
If you have the flatten only option,
Click on layer 2 or 3 and try again.

Add a shadow if you like.
Un X the background layer.

Crop the image as you like.

Give it a nice frame.
Selections/Select all.
Selections/ Contract 10 pixels.

Invert the selection.
It should look like this.

Use Eyecandy Bevel Boss
to give a nice bevel edge.

Merge visible layers.

There you go!

This tutorial can be done with any version of
PSP. As long as you have Eyecandy 4000.

Without the hook.

    

Here I framed the Oval
in gold using Blade Pro.

 

 

To do that is very easy.
After you merge the image
and the selection is still around the oval,

Selections/Expand
10 pixels

So it looks like this.
Open the payer palette.
Add a layer and drag this new layer
under the oval.

X out the Oval layer.
Click on the blank layer, fill the selection with white.
Open Blade pro and use the Shiny Gold Preset
Make sure the Radius is set to 10
(the width of your selection)

Selections/ Select None.
Un X the Oval and Merge the visible layers.
